China will become the largest PC market in 3 years

Acer CEO Gianfranco Lanci said at a press conference in Chongqing today that China will surpass the United States to become the world’s largest computer market within three years.

Lanci said, "We believe that the Chinese market has great potential," and Acer hopes to become China's second-largest computer maker.

Market research firm IDC predicts that China’s computer sales will grow by 21% this year on the basis of 54 million units last year, which is higher than the global growth rate of 14%.

Ranci said that Acer wants to exceed Lenovo in the Chinese market "is impossible." IDC's data shows that in the third quarter of this year, Acer’s share in the computer market in China’s mainland was 4.3%, ranking sixth, with Lenovo taking the top spot with a market share of 28.8%. Lanchi said, “We have never said that we will become the largest computer manufacturer in mainland China and only hope to become the second largest manufacturer. The gap between us and the second largest manufacturer is already quite small. It is difficult to achieve this goal. Much more."

Ranke pointed out that Acer hopes to replace HP as the world's largest computer maker.
